An extra strong and cost-effective way of binding using polyurethane reactive (PUR) glue, PUR Binding is suitable for heavier papers and high-use and long-life items.
The glue is super-strong (we even take our name from it!) and is not affected by printing inks, varnishes or coatings and make it ideal for binding items printed digitally.
As with perfect binding, when we are PUR binding we mill off approximately 2mm of the spine to allow for the glue to penetrate the text pages, we then apply a thin layer of adhesive to the spine edge of the book block. The cover is then wrapped around the book block. The three outside edges are all then trimmed to the required finished size.
